No, it's just too democratic. It seems to be easier to host a GP in an oil rich dictatorship or communist China than it is in a secular democracy like Canada, US or any of the EU nations.

F1 » Ecclestone promises to 'help' China keep GP

With the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal admitting defeat in its 'unreasonable' struggle to return to the F1 calendar, the sport's ringmaster Bernie Ecclestone has vowed to 'help' China to prevent Shanghai from disappearing soon too.

surprise, surprise. there is obviously the prospect of more money in china than in canada. amazing what a possible threat to his income can do to bernie. perhaps montreal should have chosen that tack!

Why do the teams, constructors and sponsors put up with this?

Moving alll the GP's to the Middle and Far East is great for Bernie's pocket and the rich new countrie's ego - but it does nothing to promote and further the sport at all -or the sponsor's businesses. The car manufactureres must be fuming.
To say nothing of the small point of THE SPORT - the USA and Canada have a rich heritage of motorsport and fans actually follow and support the sport.

In the meantime Bernie is simply following the money, while the teams and sponsors are following blindly like lambs.

Bernie why all the insults about your own G.P. Silverstone? Did I ever hear that you wanted to help your own home G.P.? Now that you are not going to retire you will give some help sorry thought. To this great venue.

As much as I am a F1 fan, If its not a win-win for local organizers, its perfectly OK for them to stand-up against Bernie/FOM's Bullying. Revenue generated from "Tourism" is a big misnomer and Bernie/FOM don't share any risks with local organizers just walk away with bigger share of revenue (track side advert, ticket sales, TV rights etc:). From that perspective I am not sad that Canadian GP has not comethrough. I will watch "other races" at that venue.
China declaring their GP is non-feasible is good sign. I hope other venues do the same. Bernie/FOM have been so far banking upon corrupt local officials making local tax payers to put up with "In losses" circuits . Bernie show them monies

I wonder if Bernies solution will be "Turn it into a night race!!!"

Seems to be his solution for everything these days.

"A lack of such 'help' has been blamed for the failure of the Canadian Grand Prix to get itself re-instated on the 2009 schedule, with Ecclestone refusing to budge on his exacting financial demands and race promoters finally giving up the 'unreasonable' struggle"
I wonder what sort of "help" BE will offer then
