I agree with this high rating but as I recall Bourdais was at least as fast as Vettel until they went to the new car. When you look at their performances and eliminate bad luck not of their own making, Bourdais was Vettel''s equal in qualifying and his better in the race. Vettel came into the season with lots more time in an F1 car and on grooved tires so that he was not clearly faster was a surprise. His ability to adapt to the new car more quickly than Bourdais gives him the clear edge in comparing their seasons and in their value to a team but there are a lot of drivers who are fast in one kind of car and not in another. This kid is good and deserves another chance.

Of all ridiculous lewis oriented stories this website ran, so far their poll is pretty decent. Talking about Bourdais, I honestly feel he kept his more talented team-mate very honest. Only phase where he lagged was his inability to quickly adapt to STR3, the car that actually made STR come alive. Not to mention he had his share of bad lucks in Season Opener, SPA and Monza. The Frenchman has done everything that should give him another shot in F1. But end of the day its the Money talks in Sports as in Life. More than their capabilities STR is trying to get SATO (and attempted to get JPM) is Sponsor these gents can get to make up for Redbull back-out.
New Spec cars should favor Seb tobefrank

It is no secret that bourdais is among my favorite.
In my opinion, he will be the one with by far the most amelioration between his real standing and the poll standing.
All in all, that show how good he realy was objectively, if you take into account his inexperience, "low grade" car and unthinkable bad luck!!!

YES YES :D
It is a very good surprise: Bourdais has a strong support from F1 fans
Sebastien deserves it.
This year, he was pretty close from Vettel and sometimes in front.
I fully agree that he could be in top five next year with a car very close to a champ car.
In 2010, he will join a top team for the title. :D :D :D
Toro Rosso should not wait too long otherwise HONDA can think of him!!!

I hope STR wakes up and gives SeaBass another chance. I have a feeling with slicks and less downforce, the car will give him a chance to throw it around a bit and also a chance to shine, to really show what he can do.

Unfortunately, Toro Rosso needs money and Sato can bring a healthy purse of personal sponsorship. If Bourdais ends up out of his ride because of both Sato and Buemi buying their seats, I'll never watch another F1 race again, unless another team with some brains gives Boudais the proper ride he deserves.

I'm not surprised by him being picked 7th best driver. Seb is exceptionally talented, and will really improve next year on slicks. If Toro Rosso had any decency they would name him as their primary driver now (he deserves it), and keep Sato and Buemi waiting for a decision as long as they wish.

It took him two years to show his true form in Champ Car, then he was really consistently quick, and multiple champion. He will finish in the top 5 next season, land a better ride for the following year, and contend for the title in 2010.

I think Raikkonen wil still be in the top 6. He had a bad year without question but still won 2 GPs, recorded the most fastest laps which shows the raw speed is still present there somewhere, came in 3rd in the championship and helped Ferrari securing the drivers title by at least doing a lot better than Kovalainen.
For Raikkonen, after 3 races he was going to be the champion easily but then it went wrong somehow, and then it went wrong some more and then there was Canada, Valencia, Spa, Monza and Singapore, which makes 3rd a bit of a miracle really.
I think Heidfeld did more than ok considering the car obviously didn't suit him at all, but he flies below the radar most of the times.

I think it's also great that he speaks his mind and isn't afraid to show emotion. It's good for the sport to have people like that, puts a human face on it.
