Warning: what follows may be considered by some to be deeply cynical.
Bernie's had this planned out from day one. He knew that Donington was never going to be able to get up to his standards in the amount of time they had, so it's given him an excuse to scrap the British GP altogether. Ultimately, what it comes down to is Bernie being bitter that the BRDC won't let hime join. Frankly, the sooner he loses all his money in his divorce the better as far as I'm concerned, can't stand the little ****

F1 » Donington F1 decision delayed

Donington Park will have to wait until the New Year to discover if redevelopment can take place.

@Nick Hodgins

Sadly I would agree with most of your comments. I seem to remember BE stating quite soon after the move was announced that if Donington wasn't ready there would be NO reprieve for Silverstone.

He always has and always will do exactly what he wants without any regard for anyone else.

While you always have to be cynical about F1, this country really has a poor selection of race tracks from a 'facilities' perspective. This development should go ahead regardless because this country needs better places to go racing. If we are to remain the 'home' of world motorsport we need world class facilities. As I have said in other forums DP is not applying for permission to stage a F1 race but rather to build new facilities. If bernie agreed, DP could stage an F1 race in it's current format - the council or anyone else couldn't do anything about it as the track already has the correct permissions.

Donnington could not hold an F1 race in it:s current format, it does not have the correct safety infrastructure, i.e long run off's for one. It's basically not up to taking on 22 F1 cars. I really want Britain to loose it's GP and then the teams to kick up an almighty stink over it all, so Bernie has to put it back on the calender. He moans about silverstone, but there are worse races on the calendar. Not saying Silerstone is the best, but by no means the worse. Compare it with DP, Silverstone has access, facilities for cars and spectators, needs to work to it. DP has none of this and needs lots of work. It's just not going to happen, sorry guys.

It will never happen.......it's a pure pipe dream. Donington will always be a great track surrounded by one big toilet. You can't polish a turd.

Donnington is a poor circuit, and lacks the facilities to hold a world class race like F1. Agreed the circuit is difficult to get to, but not only that its not a great circuit to visit. When i watched moto gp here i was shocked at the standard of the circuit compared to silverstone and brands hatch... i was trudging around on muddy grass to try and find a place to sit, felt like i should have been watching a local cricket match rather than a world class motorcycle race. The place is a shambles... Bring on a brands hatch or silverstone revamp so we can compete with the classy circuits on the world calendar.
