F1 » Senna wants to make his own name in F1

GP2 Series Vice-Champion Bruno Senna is keen to make his F1 debut with Honda in 2009 following his promising test in Barcelona - but if he succeeds, he stresses he will be doing so as Bruno Senna, not Ayrton's nephew.

bruno, if you want to make it "in your own name", why on earth did you change it to senna. be truthful, you are getting press because of the senna name

If he wasn't called Senna he would never have got this far. IMO he is totally over-rated ,just look at the number of errors he made in GP2 this season!!!

And if he doesn't want comparisons, why have a helmet design so similar?

As the other posters have correctly identified, if not for that "Senna" no would have given a second look to you on your current results. Many a better talents have been overlooked, due to lack of "connections" and "monies".

Bruno If you are true to yourself, you should frankly know where you stand, complete you apprenticeship in GP2, take test role with Teams having Good Simulator facilities and comeback more prepared.

Great name will get you seat, but not assure success

Good to see that all the Senna slaggers have arrived early! lmao!

You guys are pathetic, you really are. Bruno can clearly drive an F1 car and was robbed of the GP2 title at Spa....those ARE the facts!

......and for the last time..............he ISN'T a Senna, he is a Lalli! Yes, he changed to Senna for obvious reasons but regarldless of the Senna name, he is still Ayrton's nephew and always will be.

The guy can drive a racing car, so just let him be FFS!

gaz, did you read the article. "senna" said that he wanted to make it "in his own name" well, as you say , his name is lalli, so WHY did he change it , if not to use the senna connection. he defeats his own statements.

For the tenth time probably - from somebody who has lived in Brazil for quite some time: There it is completely common to use the mothers name. People sometimes have up three or four surnames (including from grandparents) in the birth certificate, then for practical reasons you go for just one. the way, his Brazilian passport says Bruno Senna Lalli, his second - Italian - passport only Bruno Lalli.

Also - the whole discussion should be over anyway after his impressive performance at the Barcelona test. Not only concerning getting so close to Buttons time, but also the consistency he showed - lapping within one tenth for five or six laps not only once, but on about each set of tyres.

Ellen's right, even Ayrton's surname was changed as he wished, he used Senna da Silva in his F3 days and dumped da Silva after that because it is the Brazilian equivalent of Smith. Nelson Piquet bears his mothers surname as well.
