Bourdais: Five in STR frame, not three

From day to day I become more disappointed on the performance STR
management shows off these days! I think we don''t have to discuss
about sebastiens driving skills anyway - his potential should
be obvious to everyone though he had a rather "poor" season. But
looking at the comments he makes and the team radios in FP, it''s
convincing me more and more that he''s a unique guy in the paddock
who analyses his situation as rationally as noone else would ever
do! What else could u wish for?! Instead of complaining he always
finds the strenght to move him and his team forward...

I fear the day when STR announces its lineup...

F1 » Bourdais: Five in STR frame, not three

Record-breaking Champ Car king Sébastien Bourdais has admitted that he is not overly confident about his chances of remaining in F1 with Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2009 - as he faces opposition on four fronts.

I am pleased to notice that we the fans and posters know better than the teams their drivers. Bourdais is another driver and obviously the team is looking for a complete package in their drivers (driving ability, fitting best in F1, sponsors they may bring etc. etc. So when STR decides I am sure they will make the correct decision even if we fans do not agree with it.

They should keep Bourdais. Simple as that.
And by saying so i state what I want to see happen, i don't try to think i know better than the one who will actually make the decision.
What is correct and what is not is a rather subjective concept after all, depending on opinions. :)

Yes Bourdais is a strong driver.
Yes he deserves to be in a top team.
Yes he had a very strong team mate this year : Vettel.
But remember he was quicker than him with the STR2 as at spa, Japan or china with the STR3.
Yes I support Bourdais and Vettel who is also a nice guy.
No as a Renault employee i don't support any more this team where most of us don't recognize our self in this manager who is able to declare that a 28 years guy is too OLD!!
Go seb Go seb :)
:) :) :)

ben, has todt said that bourdais is "too old"? i must have missed that!. i think that seb b has been the author of his own misfortune. if he was a good developer, he would have improved the car to his liking. if he was a seb v, he would have driven around the inadequacies. in the end, money may talk, but with seb l showing good form on a test, and being a red bull driver, imagine the kudos if he was slotted into the team, or even val, in view of ferrari connection. you may find that there are more than 4 others in the frame.
but wouldnt it be nice if RBR and ferrari were able to field a third car each (no point scoring) for seb l and val?

NELSON, of all people, gets another year. Bourdais definitely deserves another go in my opinion. But if he doesn't get another chance I hope he wins Le Mans some day.

Richard, the manager who said that Bourdais is too old is F.Briatore.
I dream to see sebastien winning the title with a Renault.
And even as i said i work for Renault, i can't support any more Renault F1 team.
Thanks TR for the support they give to Bourdais. and we all know that is only a question of money and not talent.

Renault like Ferrari have their reasons for not being too hot on fielding a driver having the same nationality than the team. The media and people easily focus on men rather than the cars, and they don't want to be second on the domestic interest.

Now Renault has image problems in France so they might try and propel Grosjean to restore some love...

Concerning the age, a team like Renault usually want to foster a talent coming from their own ranks. They'd love a second Alonso, someone whose career appears as deeply linked with the Régie. Many other teams look to think that way. F1 is a small milieu and the paradigm is always strong there...They want young talents they can mould...

Had we still lived in the 80's, a French entrepreneur would have mounted a team with the backing of ELF and possibly the government in order to field one or even two French drivers in formula one.

Those days are long gone despite the fact that many French global brands are way wealthier and stronger today...

Building a team is still very risky like the Super Aguri example showed us (especially when you think about how surprisingly good were their results) and it will stay so as long as an efficient cost killing policy will be implemented.

The fact is also that French companies prefer to spend on sports like sailing rather than motorsports which have a bad image despite having many fans...

Seba has to stay at RB... that:s all I have to stay...
Huge mistake if they let him go...
That will only show that hey are just another small team that will never grow, because they only get drivers that bring money and when they grow they will just go elsewhere...
