Probably like Hamilton, Alonso deserves to be higher.

Wonder how many people gave either of them a score of 1 out of sheer immaturity...

so the top two are presumably vettel and massa, i wonder in which order. massa suffered some cruel luck this year, but has matured well, whereas vettel has driven his socks off to bring the str from the back , well into the top four. given that massa was in a fast car and had all the advantages, i think that vettels performance was far more amazing and he would be worthy of the top spot.

i voted for vettel as the top driver of 2008 season, no one can know what will happen in the future but early signs are very good that vettel will be a different driver from others.

dont agree with this list, alonso should be higher and so should hamilton. vettel was good but dont think he should be in the top two. dont think people have voted on performance but who they like the most. but still roll on 2009 and slicks

Well here we go again with some sentimentalism. I think Alonso as well as Hamilton deserved a much higher position than Vettel. We may argue as much as we want but to me Vettel is just lucky to have a Ferrari engine to a RB car. That helped him to show some sparks and the unfortunate incidents/mistakes whatever you wish to call them of both Hamilton and Massa. Otherwise Vettel is another Button: the latter just got lucky with his only win because all the top contenders were out.

I voted for Vettel as my top driver but I was surprised to see Hamilton and Alonso 4th and 3rd. Massa will probably get it in my opinion but both have done good jobs this season. I think there are a few people who have voted for their favourite though.
I would disagree somewhat with Vettel being lucky as he outperformed his teammate, who wasn't too bad (just had bad luck)and ended up best of the rest behind the top 6 and Alonso. If STR had their '08 car from Melbourne onwars, he could have been up with Heikki.
I think Alonso and Vettel both surpassed themselves but were aided by fast improving cars.

karga, we often speak with the same voice but this time i disagree slightly with you. bourdais, fisichella and sutil all had the ferrari engine but were nowhere. ergo, vettel mut have been performing better than anticipated

Alonso is indeed a very good driver. I won't forget his relentless tirade against Schumacher :p

rich ard, if we did agree on everything would have been very strange... I think the combination of engine and car made the difference with Vettel. Frankly Bourdais should not have been around. As for the others let us see what they will do with Mercedes/McLaren engine.
