Shame the video is such ********, could at least have given us an in car lap round this fantasy circuit. Instead we get a lap mostly looking at a poor simulation of a Mclaren car then four minutes of Mobil advert!

F1 » VIDEO: Ultimate GP circuit - according to Lewis

Ten corners to get the adrenalin flowing. That is the choice of new F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Surely one of the best corners on any track is the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca

A few years ago Autosport magazine did a similar thing but they asked the BTCC drivers to design their ultimate track it did not feature a single straight.
But they did have 1 thing in common they all wanted to race Silverstone Sid :)

Herman Tilke take note. Drivers do not like hairpins at the end of every straight!!!

we, as spectators, also like scenery!

I have to agree that the Corkscew is one of my favourite corners... and about half of the corners on Bathurst - a real race track! (imo)

As Laguna hasn't been on the F1 calender for a while he can hardly select the corkscrew as one of his favs.

The other thing is that although a corner may look fantastic from a spectators point of view doesn't mean that it is a challenging corner from the drivers viewpoint.

I'm always surprised that nobody has actually built a track based on the best parts from existing tracks instead of these boring Tilke design tracks that produce boring races and no spectacle.

@ Lex I could be wrong but I don't think there has ever been a F1 race at Laguna. There have been a couple of demonstrations and lots of historic races though.

Lewis's dream track sounds like fun to drive but it also seems a lot like the early seventies Monza before all of the chicanes. It would produce a very close race with lots of drafting. I think the main problem with the Tilke tracks and Magne Cours for that matter is that the tracks don't go anywhere and are devoid of features or landmarks.

Sure it's a real manly lineup, but it would make for a crappy GP. The cars would all have low downforce, and they would all be spaced out 1 second apart for the whole race because you couldn't get near the guy in front.

There's no braking, there's no kerb usage. I do love the sight of him flicking that mclaren from kerb to kerb through a chicane or two.

Yes, big, ballsy corners are great for racing. But nine in a row wouldn't make for a great race.
