If their target was not the top, then why be there at all? From a large manufacturer who have been at the top before, where else would they aim? Please BE, just shut up.

i am sure that when honda re-entered the F1 circus, their sights were on rising to the top. at first they were competetive, but fell away. i am sure that their target was to improve and i doubt that this could be called "unrealistic". a couple of days ago, bernie was saying that honda were a top 4 team for 2009. to aim for that would probably not have been possible, but bernie needs to stop talking in riddles

With the ever changing goal posts ecclescake and max a million have created something almost impossible to keep up with. Honda needed to meet top targets to be able to compete not just sod around midfield, as with other seasons only the top three-ish teams race the others are just having a day out, its all to unrealistic for small or new teams.... good bye F1.

@ Calvin - Your 100% correct. BE is trying to blame everyone and everything but himself for these problems. F1's just too expensive, not just for the race teams but to host, to attend, everything. It's depressing ....

I think Bernie and Max should keep quiet for the time being, their comments over the last few days will not help Honda in their quest in selling the team. :)

No race in North America, no relevance to their road cars, F1 is certainly not green so why would Honda stay? Once again Honda has made a tough but brilliant decision and will be better positioned to ride out the global recession. Honda will probably own Toyota when it is all over. Bernie is in complete denial about the financial crisis just like so many of his fellow old and wealthy.

With the number of countries not wanting to pay Bernie's price to host a GP I think his targets have gotten a bit unrealistic too. Judging by his Andy Worhol look he obviously does not look in the mirror much. Hopefully he will wake up when more countries refuse to pay his price and his wife takes most of his money. If I was Tony George I would offer to pay Bernie one dollar to bring the US GP back.

Bernie needs a slap in the head. It's the product that is unappealing to the teams. Not to mention the venues that have either lost a race or cannot afford one. If the product was more attractive(money to be made) then there would be no issues with having a race. It can't be one sided. Business still requires a return on investment. At this time the F1 model is incorrect and will continue to lose business(teams). They have seen this trend and chose to stick their heads in the sand. Now it's to late.

Actually it would be good to hear from Bernie about the cost cutting measures that FOM are going to make to help the circuits around the world that are currently holding a Grand Prix. :)

It's not the fault of Max and I. If F1 goes down the tubes then it's all Honda's fault for having the audacity to think they could spend $150,000,000 a year and actually win some races. If any other teams pull out then we will sue Honda for causing this massive snowball !.
