The haters jump all over these stories.Who are all the experts on these boards that are so knowledgeable about a drivers abilities, and how much money they should be paid ?.Any driver is out there to make the most money they can , none of them drive for free ,do they ?.Seems like a lot of jealousy around here to me, little people with little lives.

F1 » Button: I don't want a year away from F1

Currently unemployed F1 star Jenson Button is adamant that he does not intend spending a year on the sidelines - as he continues to keep faith in Honda and another potential buyer comes forward in the shape of PSA.

Tough , because that''s what is going to happen!
Maybe the ridiculous money Honda will pay him for the rest of his contract will go some way to keeping him happy..I think £15 million was the figure someone mentioned???

yes. his contract was for £8m per year for three years, for doing nothing but trail around at the back, but his golden handshake is for £15m, for doing nothing. in other words, IF another team picked him up (lets hope not), he would then be paid another multiple of millions, on top of his handshake. nice money if you can get it! i am sure that there are quite a number of drivers on the grid who are receiving a hell of a lot less, to drive competively. go, button, and enjoy an easy life!

It dosn't take long for the Button haters to have a go. To me this is just a sad bunch of jealous critics with nothing else better to say get a LIFE.

In fact, had Alonso gone to Honda in place of Button, it would have been history repeating itself, since Flavio was so desperate to replace Button with Alonso in the Renault all those years ago, and now we can see why...

One more quick thing..talking about Button, I've always had the impression he doesn't really belong in F1, as his driving style does not suit the intense but controlled aggression needed to "drive the wheels off" an F1 machine...eking out a tenth of a second here and a tenth there over the kerbs...like say an Alonso or a Michael. I feel Button belongs more in one of those Le Mans endurance race settings, where he covers lap after lap for hours at a time and his smooth style is required, to look after the car in a less-eventful 24-hour type race. Just my opinion.

Also, he doesn't seem "hungry enough" in his interviews. "Hey, the car's rubbish, but I did what I could with it and that's that"
