I think a very fair assessment of the season. Nice to hear a professional echo my thoughts on Franco Alonso, great driver, not a great person.

look forward to part 2.

Maybe not Oli but if you think about Franco Alonso is considered by most 'experts' to be one of the finest F1 drivers of his generation and I would have to go along with that opinion.

So you have to ask the question if he is such a good driver and obviously a very ambitious one who wants to win more world championships why is he at Regie? Why isn't he being flooded with offers from any of the front running teams who realistically have the ability to provide a package capable of taking a driver to the world championship? I know he has a contract with Regie, but we've all seen in the past if the will (and money) is there then contracts can be 'broken'.

So what are these teams afraid of?

A passable assessment of a forgetful (on the track at least) season. Blundell is a fully signed up member of the 'we hate Alonso' club however, so anything he has to say on that matter I for one will never take seriously. What does he know about what kind of man Fernando Alonso is? Nothing! ITV painted Alonso as a pantomine villain, and Blundell was the worst.

I remember another driver, a certain Ayrton Senna who was demonized by British 'experts' throughout his career - Ruthless, selfish, dangerous and flawed as a man were just some of the pearls of wisdom back then. They had some pretty foul and unjustified views on Schumacher too. Alonso isn't perfect, but then no-one is.

They know what he is capable of doing to a team. Regie seems to be the only ones wanting to take a chance. I guess they just don't trust him enough.

oil is correct, he didnt want to go to bmw, ferrari drivers are under contract, so renault is the next best.

why is there this idea that he some kind of bad person? there is no evidence of it, jv used to get the same abuse.

jenny is quite right, ayrton used to get knocked too. and senna also told the world about his views at every interview slagging off anyone he could think off, leading up to 91 he outrightly told the world that his honda engine was rubbish. but if fernando even opens his mouth he gets toured into by you guys. schumi was not vocally impressed by the early ferraris either. but everyone forgets this. sadly many fans on here never watched f1 before 07 or believe brit press

also i have read constantly lately that the likes of fernando or kimi never overtaked and racing has only happened in the last 2 years. i do wish these people would go back and watch some races.

have we seen any moves as good as fernando 2 on michael at suzuka in 05, and kimi on schumi then fisi in the same race.

that was in one race. again people have selective memories. or just believe what they are told rather than their own eyes
