If they do take over then 2 immediate things have to be done - Nick Fry is told where to go and Button is sat down and told he aint worth $20 Million a season....Hopefully something can be done with getting the Honda team in any capacity back on the grid - Ross Brawn and his cars deserve to be on the grid

I think it''s cross your fingers time. Not only will it be good for the team it will also be good for F1,in these testing times one less team on the starting grid next March wouldn:t be good for the sport.

As an independant... I'm sure DR can tell Button where to go... although surely Villenueve was on piles when he was at BAR while it was being run by ProDrive?

Realistically, Dave's about the best person you could ask for, prior experience in F1, has had two outfits which have been successful (FPR and Subaru's WRC)... he may not be the one throwing the most money around, but logically, he doesn't have to anymore either with the serious cost-cutting measures that are going on.

Roll on ProDrive! and Give Di Resta seat :-o

Tupac, your theory is flawed on 2 counts.
1.Button is employed by Honda, so even if he drove for Prodrive he'd get his £15m payoff.
2.One of the reasons Richards left Honda was because he and Button didn't see eye to eye, so I can't see Richards employing him anyway.

ramjam, We don't know what the conditions of the deal are. Button's employment could be something Honda is looking out for so that they don't have to pay him off. Having said that Button will undoubtedly do what is best for Button. At this point well always actually, Button will be more interested in money than sacrificing money for a better chance of success.

Mark_, it wasn't me who disageed with your comment, but because of reason 2, there's no way Richards would employ Button. I'm quite sure(though admit I'm wrong if it turns out different later)that Richards would walk away if the deal meant keeping Button. Let's face it, Richards did a fantastic job whilst at BAR, so for Honda to want rid of him so they could keep Button, there must have been some BITTER animosity between them.

Tupac, Button IS employed by Honda Racing F1, but as they will no longer exist past 1st January, his contract will no longer be valid. See point 2 for the rest of the reason I think he'll not be driving for Prodrive F1 next year.

no wories ramjam but thanks for setting the record straight. I figured that I would get a few thumbs down for saying Button was more interested in money. As much as I would like Honda to continue I just can't get excited by DR returning to F1. I still have not quite figured him out yet. He seems like he does not have a true love for this series. If he did he would never have left.
