**** off Bernie.

He doesnt deserve to be in F1 because he hasn''t ever won anything of real note. Its the same with Buemi.

IIRC, Chandhoks wins came in Race 2 of those weekends and he was on Pole because he was 8th in Race One. Bruno Senna is rated highly, and blew Chandhok away last year.

The only reason Bernie wants KC in F1 is because India have a GP in 2010 or 2011....

F1 » Ecclestone: Karun Chandhok belongs in F1

Karun Chandhok's 'place is in F1' and Narain Karthikeyan is 'capable of winning grands prix in a good car' - those are the arguments of the sport's experts, after Vijay Mallya dismissed both drivers as candidates for a 2009 seat at Force India.

unless you are prepared to take some of the billions you have milked out of f1 and buy Honda to give a pet driver a seat keep out of team selection, as it is you and your buddy miss whiplash are turning f1 into a joke.

power crazed bernie wants to pick the drivers now...he has to go.as for the unknown illness patrice i think you and i both know what its called...the man thinks f1 is his toy and only he has any rights in its running..i think f1 is doomed unless bernie retires gracefully and hands it over to someone who can save it.....

Tricky.

In terms of "pace and potential" as described, he's certainly got a *chance*.

BUT - there are X others in the same position. If someone in F1 came out in support of, say, Davide Valsecchi - who's had a couple of GP2 wins and reasonable pace but not been a consistent front-runner - I'd think it was nice but not entirely serious.

There are a fair few guys in GP2 who are promising but with only probably 18 F1 seats in total, chances are extremely limited.

That said - think about Kimi: promoted from Brit FRenault to F1, and that's hardly worked out badly. Sometimes the 'random promotion' works well - Buemi could be another case in point. Previous seasons are only a passport.

-By which I mean: you can win whatever you want to get you to F1, but once you're there the F1 results are basically all that counts.

Once in a blue moon someone might say "XXX is wasted in that car, let's give him a better chance", but 90% of the time you're only as good as your last F1 season. Simply because most of the F1 field have won lower-down stuff, logically it CAN'T make any sense to attempt to rank them on their pre-F1 experience. Once they're there, it doesn't matter.

It is, however, very heartening to see guys who've done exceptionally in lower formulae - Lewis being the obvious one, but also Nico and Timo Glock - picked up by decent teams rather than back-of-grid fodder.

I think in a way we are all turning our hatred towards Bernie and channelling it towards Chandhok...Unfortunately, he did not have the luck of the draw last year with several DNF's where he was either punted from behind or had technicalities....He still however have more fastest laps and Senna too admitted last year that Karun's race pace was incredible....Lets again remember that India is not known for its motorsporting ability and for someone like him to come through the ranks and perform in Asia and Europe and now be a front runner in Gp2...it sure is commendable...Sure, he needs to prove himself more, as did most guys that were given a break in F1..but i do think he deserves a good crack
