Why exactly should he need a new manager? Because your usual prejudices against all things Hamilton continue!!The guy is extremely well connected and thought of by the Mercedes hierarchy and I would rather trust their judgement than the views of a known hater for anything to do with the Hamiltons. The guy has won the Euro F3 series, was narrowly beaten for the DTM title against a far more superior Audi and is on the verge of getting an F1 seat.Someone somewhere in his management is doing something right for their guy!And to be pedantic Richard I did not exactly rush into commenting,my words came over two hours after the earlier pearls of wisdom from you and Sunny!

F1 » di Resta poised for deal

Paul di Resta remains confident of an involvement in F1 in 2009, despite being 'overlooked' by Force India.

Surely it would make more sense for this story to be titled 'di Resta set for deal - in which series?' or something? The titling 'set for F1 deal' is deliberately misleading on two counts as it's still up in the air.

Agreed that he's a decent talent though, done himself no harm in DTM and won the F3 Euroseries let's not forget in 2006.

Given Toro Rosso's already full test roster, it seems more likely that di Resta may be in GP2 next year with one of the top teams (Campos, Racing Engineering etc - although ART are full with Maldonado and Hulkenberg)

@Sunny-about him not winning the British Sports Personality, it was mainly coz we had the most successful olympians in living memory, the winner got 3 GOLDS! :-o Besides Lewis came 2nd, he must hav a few supporters!!! :D Anyway Im sure he (and all of his fans) are much happier he won the world championship and not the SPA than the other way round! :p
At the end of the day popularity doesnt win you championships! :D

Personally, I think Paul would be best keeping his race seat at Merc and then testing in F1. He doesn't want to do what Gary Paffett did and take a year out, because that has done Gary no favours at all

I don't agree with the comments that DTM is overlooked. If a driver of Paul's standard is about then people will notice if he is driving the way he has done in a top flight series. Paul is a serious talent and I fully expect to see him in F1 in the future. I don't know when, and personally I think another season in DTM would do him no harm, but I look forward to seeing him progress and make his stamp on the racing world. He is a young British talent, and we definitely need more of those!

I am sure Di Resta gets plenty of good advice from his cousin and is well capable of assessing the quality of his management. Why do a minority of hateful people ruin these web forums? Grow up

I think that the popularity issue was caused by the other drivers. He was not well liked in the paddock and that bled over to popular opinion. It's not easy being on top as everyone takes a swing. I think he is handling that aspect of F1 very well. He put so much pressure on Ferrari(most popular) team that it made all the other drivers tense. Like an old teacher told me years ago. "I like to be liked and love to be loved but I don't have to be either.

I never saw Lewis operate the crane. And as a manager(anthony) he already has a WDC and MME and numerous other acheivements under his belt. Can't be all bad. And Sarah it was you who brought up Hamilton.. Welcome to the club.

THIS is what bugs me about Lewis.

An article about Paul di Resta and his chances of an F1 seat, and the comments inevitably spin around to being about Lewis.

This article has nothing to do with him, yet more comments mention him than Paul.... makes no sense...

Sunny.. we were doing so well this year. I have agreed 3 times with you. But the Lewis thing baffles me as F1 is not a popularity contest. So I disagree that the majority of Lewis's country doesn't adore him. They must as the awards keep racking up. Just my opinion and not meant to start an arguement.
