I really Hope Honda are on the grid in OZ but the longer this goes on the less I expect to see them there.

Ferrari has said that it would be happy to supply the former Honda team with engines should it be rescued for the 2009 F1 season.

They'd have to change the team name coz Honda-Ferrari would sound just weird.

Calvin...

It couldn't be called Honda no matter what. Honda will have no ownership..

So may it could be Prodrive- Ferrari? or Slim- Ferrari?

Dave Richards had a deal last year with McLaren-Mercedes. If Prodrive were to get involved, would he want to go back to Mercedes or would he be happy dealing with Ferrari?

For anyone else, I'm sure that having Ferrari engines on board would only help them to make their mind up faster.

Interesting comment Calvin....

Maybe this partnership shows that Prodrive have decided not to invest???

Calvin - The team formally to be known as Honda can take over the Force India Ferrari engine production, all it will take will be enough time to build and prep the engines but something Ferrari have the ability and personnel to do. McLaren have just taken on a 2nd engine build and might need more time to do a 3rd making it even tighter for a deal to be done and engines supplied and fitted to an alien chassis. At least the Brawn-Ferrari connection should mean parity of engines with STR and even Ferrari. I hope a decision is made soon to allow the team to fit and develop the car so that it at least runs and handles for the first race. I understand they might not even have a test before Oz.

Yes, this would probably help any potential investor make up his or her mind. Especially considering that a Ferrari customer team actually won a race last season. When was the last time that happened? We'll see next season what kind of customer package McLaren put together for FIF1 this season but at the moment a Ferrari customer engine looks set to be one of the best on the grid.

DBL,

Ferrari had 18 months to build cars for a1GP and still ran out of time only supplying 3/4 the grid in time for the first race, I wouldn't bet on them making more engines in time for the Aus GP

Yes but they were already supplying 3 teams in 2008, same thing in 2009.
