Really? I wonder why he failed to do so in 2007 with the same car and intense scrutiny to ensure fairness of equipment and was beaten by a ROOKIE, the very same Lewis Hamilton. I must say, F1 "commentators" do come out with a pile of rubbish on a frequent basis!

F1 » Alonso 'could beat Hamilton easily'

Double F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso and Ferrari would make 'an exceptional duo' capable of defeating Lewis Hamilton 'easily', it is contended by three of the sport's experts.

I think Lexus' analogy is an excellent one. Will any of the fanboys answer??

This is proper politics where you will never get the answer.

That was a proper answer rob to ensure the debate goes on forever.

What would your answer be Tupac?

I love all the talk about a rookie beating Alonso. Hamilton was a Mclaren test driver before that season so he had hundreds of hours in that car before Alonso even had a seat fitting. Also no one expected Hamilton to hit the ground running as he did, so he was able to fly under the radar for the first part of the season. Finally Hamilton only beat Alonso on countback of second places because of the unfair penalty that Alonso received in Hungary. It has to the the first time in the history of the sport that a team mate has been penalized for holding his teammate by not driving. I cannot think of any other penalties that have happened while a car was stationary. Alonso should have won.

Lex your analogy is flawed. Since Hamilton was an F1 test driver it would be more like a student who was home schooled taking the same test as the student in regular school. They have both studied the same materiel just in a different environment.

Alonso had the championship taken by the unfair penalty in Hungary while Hamilton lost the championship by failed performances at the end of the season. To me that is advantage Alonso.

LH tested out the car like any other driver, he was not a test driver. The car was new and both of them had to get used to it including FA. So my analogy is not flawed. How long was FA in F1 before LH came? How many times had FA driven on those tracks before LH came along? How many times did FA set up a car before LH came along? How much qualification did FA do before LH? In fact McLaren did LH a diservice and gifted the champion to FA and KR in China. If they had got it right LH would have been champion at that race. AS i said before I would not get a straight answer. FA was beaten by a ROOKIE A 1ST GRADER SOMEONE IN RECEPTION CLASS & he & his fans find that hard to swallow. Facts dont lie

A test driver is not the same as a race driver & testing is very different to racing. To go for your analogy Mark, De La Rosa should be the best driver out there. It is strange how no account is given to the many years & experience that FA has over LH. No account is given to the fact that he won 2 world champion before LH came along and no account is given to the fact that LH never drove or qualified on most of the tracks. I dont even think Ron knew how good LH would be as he would never have needed to hirer FA. In this forum people try to fit the facts into their answer rather than make the facts speak for themselves. No matter what LH does he is never going to be good for some of you.

LH made FA look rather silly when both drove the same car at mclaren.his name says what he will do next year, sweet FA.LH has won the title so he will be more confident and relaxed next year so watch him GO.

I think crash posted this story just to give all the Fernando and Lewis fanboys something to start throwing their toys at each other over. They must be suffering from withdrawl symptoms by this point in the season.

So amusing.

Lex it seems like I touched a nerve. You are being selective as well by not recognizing the unfair penalty that Alonso received. I don't think that anyone believes that LH is not good. Obviously he has huge talent. I love how the LH fans cry foul when the penalties go agains the golden child but remain silent when they are in his favor. Face it the results could not have been any closer between LH and FA in 2007 so we are just splitting hairs. Like another poster stated it is too bad that FA did not drive for Mclaren in 2008 as that would have been a very interesting battle. Peace.
