Strange, I thought Ferrari were keen. Anyway, this may damage any potential buyers interest.

F1 » No Ferrari engines for Honda, says Domenicali

Despite having suggested last week that it would be open to the idea of supplying Honda with engines during the 2009 F1 season, Ferrari has now insisted there is 'close to zero' chance of a deal materialising.

Perhaps this is a reaction to Fry's announcement of his intentions to bid for the Team.

No, I really think Ferrari was trying to help get the ball on the roll. Kinda like hanging a carrot in front of a horse. When no one jumped on the bait they backed down from their offer. I'm sure the deal would have cost Ferrari additional resourses but made the offer for the sake of F1. Just a guess.

Maybe Max's engine tender isn't such a bad idea... Cosworth/Xtrac/Flybrid powertrain coming to the rescue? I can't imagine Honda, FOTA or the FIA will let a team fail due to lack of affordable/available engine - that's all they've been banging on about for months!

With Honda claiming they had made SO much progress with their KERS, & since they're obviously not going to be using it ... & with Ferrari's admittance that their 'far behind' KERS might not even see competition in 2009 ... perhaps Honda should swap the system so that they can at least sell their cars / team with an engine so that the drivers wont need to push them around. Im sure Ferrari would very quickly find the resources to supply a 2nd customer team again.

rob, I think that Ferrari have the capacity given that they've just lost Force India.

Ferrari probably don't think that the Honda or whatever they will be called will be able to pay the bill. They would be better off supplying both Red Bull and STR or just one team. If Toyota run into trouble what is the chance that Williams could get Ferrari motors?
