Foremost among the things that need to be changed in this team is...Nick Fry.

Honda is Defunct. Fry doe's not have $500 mil. Nobody in Their right Mind will back Him. Ya, Mercedes will Sell Engines, Cash up front. Case closed :)

Going back to the conflict, Dale, other companies may be in the position where the internal offer knows how the operation works, this is well and good, but in this case, has Nick Fry been party of seeing the bids of the other people, and therefore be in a position to know how to put his bid together and win, especially if, as he may have been, involved in the setting of the conditions with Honda management. If he was going to bid, he should have excluded himself from taking any part in the process. However, he has been reported on here, amongst other places, as commenting on the process, as a mouthpiece of Honda. There is definitely conflict here.

tim, haug says that merc "might" be prepared to help, but that they are unwilling to hand out more presents. i guess that they are trying to ensure that there are 20 on grid, otherwise they may be forced into running a third car, as per concorde agreement, and the cost of that, would be far greater than selling off a couple of engines.

You may have read that Mercedes are prepared to provide engines so there is some good will to help save the team!

nick fry is clever! run a team into the ground, get honda to invest huge amounts of money, then try to buy the same team (that he has destroyed) for $1. ferrari wont give them an engine, so there is little or no hope of the team surviving. fry puts it about that there are 12 interested parties?? does anyone actually believe him??????

Honda lost the plot with most of it's moto/motorsports programs a long time ago. The only thing Honda has dominated in the last 5 years is selling passenger vehicles. It's time to fall on the sword and regroup if they ever want to be taken seriously in racing again.

Nuff said.

I do not see the conflict of interest since Honda has final say as to who purchases the team. Fry, like every other bidder has the right to make a run at the team. Many corporations are bought from internal entities with key knowledge as to what has worked and what hasn't. Fry, while shouldering some of the blame for Honda's performance must also share in some of its accomplishments: i.e. acquiring Brawn. If done right he is certainly in a more enviable position to make this team viable than any other bidders: at this time a team like Honda's needs stability, shaking up the infrastructure will see staff leaving.

This is getting so confusing now. Isn't it just time to let the Honda team die? If Fry does buy it out, they'll still be in exactly the same race and grid positions, so why bother?

There's comment about the 'bids' being imaginary - well I reckon the barometer for whether this team will make it as a going concern is Ross Brawn. Above most people in F1 he eems like a decent man, and I don't think he'd desert a sinking ship until there was no chance at all of saving it.

Nauj Oignaf says If indeed Nick F wins the bid, he would be more serious about "delivering results" since his fortune would be at stake

I can't possibly imagine that Fry will be using his own money to front such a project.
