Compared to others I've seen and based on the new rules they have to adhere to I'd say that was one of the better looking cars for this year.

F1 » 'Emotional' Hamilton: New McLaren stunning

2008 F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton is clearly impressed with the car with which he will endeavour to successfully defend his title in 2009 - the newly-unveiled McLaren-Mercedes MP4-24.

''Stunning'' isn''t quite how i''d describe it (pig ugly would be my opinion on it), but then I don''t have to drive it. If the drivers like it then that''s all good.

like jenny, i dont think that the car is stunning. it seems very similar to the ferrari. however, looks alone do not guarantee success, and the ugliest car on the grid could well turn out to be more successful. in reality, the interpretation of the front wing is the main difference between the cars, and all teams have said that the car w see now may not be the car which races. really all they are "launching" is the main tub/engine/transmission package

Personally I agree with Lewis, the car is stunning...unlike the Ferrari which looks like it's dragging a trailer along behind it!! Each to their own I suppose.

Well in terms of looks i would say the Mclaren is the best looking so far followed by the Ferarri then Toyota then the bmw interim version. Strange that Rich ard has got nothing good to say about the Mclaren (always said he was not biased).

cunny funt, i was agreeing with jenny, and i showed NO bias. i said that ferrari and mclaren were similar, and then went on to say that it didnt matter how ugly or stunning a car was. it isnt looks that govern the performance of a car. so NO bias. please read comments before attacking.

If you were to take your words in the context they were written Rich ard you are saying that the McLaren looks exactly like the Ferrari, for most of the dim wits who respond on this site they will say that it is cheating to copy other teams blah blah blah.....
In saying that, for those who have looked and know enough about the new rules, there really isn't going to be any big difference between any of the teams this year, it really is going to come down to engine, transmission packages and reliability.
The main aero on the car is only the front and rear wing, which even then only has a marginal play on the game compared to previous years. Sorry to pick on your words Rich ard, was too easy!

Further on that. It doesn't mean it is a bad thing. I'm hoping (like most of us) that this season will be a close battle again.
Previous seasons aside (for those who like to bring up supposed wrong doings and all that crap) i'm sure all of us would hope that these rule changes, although some are pushing the limit of making F1 a "generic" brand, will hopefully make the racing better and give other temas the chance to win races. Last year was entertaining (hamilton fan or not) and i enjoyed it imensely. All i can hope for is that the racing this year is all the tougher with the rule changes and that we see clean racing.
There is always some controversy but lets hope there isn't too much!

Another note, compared to the BMW interim car, all of the so far launched 2009 cars by Ferrari, Toyota and McLaren have looked pretty damn good and no where near as scary as some of the first looks we all thought it would look like.
Yes the front wing is defintely going to cause some issues because of its width , but that will always be a driver error and no one else's fault and the rear wing is a little wierd because of its height and width being reduced but suprisingly easy to get used to after looking at the pictures of the three teams cars that have launched so far.
For those of us who watch this for the racing and not the bull that happens in between, it should be a good season!
