Well if we can call that the end of an era, I''d like to just say one word to Ron. THANKS. Without his vision and drive, we would be following a very different, very boring and very one-team dominated sport and that would have been the case for most of the last 25 years.

Good luck Ron.
There''s a fair chance McLaren wouldn''t be the force they have been, and still are, without you. Let''s hope there are no derogatory comments about you on this thread because, if people look at the big picture of McLaren''s racing history, such comments wouldn''t be deserved!

piercarlo, ron was dictatorial, and HE made the sport boring. witness his strict control of the images of DC, fernando etc, who came out of their enforced shells after leaving! one team dominated sport?? you are forgetting that mclaren dominated for many years, i presume. and dont forget, he also presided over what was the biggest scandal ever in f1, denying knowledge but then later admitting his knowledge.
all teams have their problems and mclaren was no exception, but the sport could easily continue without their presence. in the end, i think that ron did no great favours to the memory of bruce.

the man is a legend and a genius and anyone who post a thread saying anything bad about him is a bigoted moron.at least he knows when the time is right to go behind the scenes not like bernie and smaks, they are going to cling on untill they ruin F1 completely.bernie and smax do the right thing and hand over to somebody who will take the sport forward not ruin it.

Wow, I wasn't expecting to see this. I guess it was the best time. He and Lewis got it last year and now it's time for 'ol Ron to move on. It's a new era in F1: No Ron Dennis, and no Jean Todt.

@Rich ard, even if I agreed with all you say, the end product was a team who could face up to Ferrari (and this isn't a Ferrari dig, good on them for setting the standard). And thank God for that.

i wish him well, he has done alot of good for the sport, turning around mclaren and being at the head during great times. then returning the team to former glory again in 98. and once more in 08.

im not a fan on a personal level by the way he runs certain aspects of his driver management. BUT at the end of the day many world championships in 3 decades is hard to argue with.

good luck with your future.

i also think the williams battles during the 80's and 90's were what he should be remembered for.

Good luck to Martin Whitmarsh on his promotion. I wish him well. Whatever job Ron Dennis is now doing at Mclaren, good luck to him also. He has had his critics, sometimes fair, sometimes not, but he has done alot of great things for F1 over the years and I hope people will remember that.

I try to keep it nice... I think Merc is better off. Since I have nothing else nice to say I leave it at that.
