I agree Matt, Good Luck to him with his attempt for a third drivers title! Hopefully he'll keep his run of success from the last part of 2008 going and win (not by much, I would like a close championship) 2009!

I hope the Renault is up to it!

Well one thing is for sure: there is going to be a lot of title contenders, the obvious(if currents form continues of course!) ones: Hamilton, Massa, Raikkonen, Kubica, Alonso, maybe even Vettel (Im not sure yet but some are saying hes going to be brilliant!). :? :D
I think were going to have a close season, hopefully with the right man winning! :D
Bring on March 29th!!!

@ Hannah - interesting that you give Vettel an outside chance but not Heikki. Is that because you don't think that Heikki is up to it or because the team won't give him the opportunity? I am also a little confused by the "right man" comment. Does that have to do with FIA interference or your preferred driver?

I don't mean to pick on you, just curious.

i cant speak for Hannah, but IMHO the evidence so far would indicate that Heikki is NOT up at the same level as the title contenders mentioned. I would like to see him do well but I can't see him really challenging for the WDC.

I don't know what you meant Mark with the comment about the team "not giving him the opportunity". Are you one of the people who believe that Macca operate some kind of bias towards Hamilton to the detriment of the other driver? I really don't believe this theory and have seen no evidence of it, even in the days of FA being in the team.

Anyway as Hannah says lets hope for a close, competitive championship and may the best man/team win.

tupac and hannah totally agree with you both i think it is going to be an interesting season and i think vetal has a better chance than heiki if the car comes out with a good prospect. I think you too are righting off contenders for no reason at all at present

@ Tupac - Heikki came out recently and complained that he did not get the more competitive fuel strategy during qualifying. crash.net/motorsport/f1/news/171287-0/kovalainen_eyes_mclaren_qualifying_change_in_09.html If they do not alternate who gets the preferred strategy then I would consider that not giving him the opportunity. I agree that he does not appear up to it either but I was curious as to why he was left off Hannah's list being on a top team. I also think that Heikki let Lewis by in Germany, France, and possibly in Britain too. That seems a bit early in the season to start with team orders. I have no problem with team orders or having a prefered driver though.

Whatever the case, who can truly predict the real title contenders with the rules shaken up so much? the cars will play into the hands of some and out of the hands of others. At this stage at least half the field is in with a competitive shout!

Looks like Alonso is going for broke. I think he had the Regie add every part from the Ferrari manual him and Pedro got a look at. All kidding aside he ran well with the bill board last year. Now if only Piquet could provide ANY help. And as far as Hekki. He just needs to drive the car. Being on the same team as the defending champion will be hard enough without being a crappy driver.

Well I hope ferdi can challenge for the title, along with Kimi, Felipe, Lewis, Heikki, yes, Heikki...... I think the guy has so much more to give and we haven't seen it. He definately played second fiddle to Lewis in 08 and maybe, just maybe, the team will be a little more fair this year and give the two of them an even chance at the spoils.
As for Vettel and Webber, can't see Mark being able to fight off the youngster I'm afraid. As much as I like and have great respect for Mark my money is on Sebastian to have the edge. Unfortunately Webbers time has been and gone.
