Post-race press conference - Italian GP - Pt.1

Just tell us a little bit more about that start as we have seen people make great starts but then have then usually gone across the kerbs and it has all gone wrong, but you seemed to manage it very well.

Fernando Alonso:
Well I think we had quite a good start in the last couple of races, but, for example, in Spa there is only 300 metres to turn one and I was starting eighth, so a lot of traffic in front and you have to lift. Here, with clean air in front of us, you exploit the potential as I said. I don't know. The start felt okay, but I think we can do better for next time. It was close with Lewis. At the first moment he was concentrating on Sebastian moving to the left and then when he saw me on the right he put me close to the pit-lane exit and a little bit on the grass but in turn one it was not a problem.

Alonso has been overtaken around the outside of a corner three times in the last four races, by three different drivers. 1. Germany: Hamilton overtakes him around the outside of turn 2 after pit stops, giving him the lead and quite possibly the victory. Note that Webber tried the same on Hamilton the very next lap and Hamilton runs him out of track. In the post race interview Hamilton says “No one comes around the outside of me.” 2. Spa, Webber overtakes around the outside and at the bottom Eau Rouge at 300km/h. Insane, insane move. That one will stick around his mind. 3. Monza, Around the outside of Curva Grande at 300km/h by Vettel. . . . Literal F1
