Professor Sid Watkins OBE: 1928-2012

“A great loss for the F1. Sid not only combined expertise with heart, but, for the drivers, he was always there. I remember of course my accident at Silverstone, when he was instantly at my side. I also remember our time together in many FIA safety meetings over the years, where he was always keen to improve our security. My thoughts are with his family.”

“Motor sport has lost a true visionary +character with death of Prof Sid Watkins, 84. Great man, funny too.Saved my left foot being amputated. He helped, saved, or made more comfortable, numerous people who never sat in a racing car.”

Wow, look at those comments! Heart warming. Since I saw my first F1 race Sid Watkins was there. And people always spoke in the highest regards of him. That's very special. He had a very special relationship with Senna too. Not the most approachable of the drivers. RIP doctor Sid. Heaven just got themselves a great addition to the medical team.
