YOu are spot on, this has nothing to do with the airlines, I think you may find that its all about Mike Gascoyne. The FI team had targeted him for elimination from the day they took over and its no secret that there was no love lost between Kolles and Gascoyne. Kolles wanted Ralph but that was never going to happen with Gascoyne in place as they hated each other.

Mike Smith went to FI to be with GAscoyne and it was always on the cards that with him going to Lotus that Smith would follow .
