F1 » EXCLUSIVE Piquet 'still a huge talent', says Blundell

Nelsinho Piquet's F1 career stands on the precipice of oblivion ahead of the WMSC inquiry into 'Singapore-gate' - but if what he says is true, argues Mark Blundell, he deserves another chance.

It's widely acknowledged that Alonso is a fairly exceptional driver. Even if both drivers had the exact same equipment, unless you stick a driver with equal ability & experience alongside him, the other driver is always going to look lesser. Piquet's talented, but nowhere near Alonso.. few drivers are. NP certainly struggled, as did Kovy, but both drivers showed quality on their rise to F1. Being lobbed into cars alongside a top tier driver from the get go, a driver who in reality was the golden one, could easily quash confidence. I appreciate F1 is hard, but I dont underestimate the power of favoritism from Flav, nor in Lewis' case of Ron. Alonso wouldnt know all, mind games can be brutal.
