Richard, according to his statement to FIA: Briatore was trying to make him sign the renowal of contract just a week before the crash. But Piquet Jr didn´t agree in certain parts of the contract. He didn´t need to crash the car for sign the new contract: Piquet Jr had a decent season in 2008 and Renault wanted to keep him in the team. JR thought that agreeding to do what Briatore & Symonds ordered he will gain some respect. He was in an altered state of mind this weekend so he made a wrong judgement.
JR has a contract with Reanault when the Singapur crash happened so he can´t disclose anything about the internal order due to the CONFIDENTIALITY CLAUSE.
