F1 world champions Jenson Button and Brawn GP have both scooped gongs at the prestigious 2010 Laureus World Sports Awards.

Steve, I agree that after VR's great season last year you'd think he would be a good contender for an award. If Rossi had spent the ten previous years racing bikes with only a couple of decent results to his name before winning last year's championship then maybe he would have won the breakthrough award,... and that seems to me to be the problem with this award.

I could understand "breakthrough" if it meant something like the first woman to become a WDC contender in F1, the first European to QB in the NFL, or something like that which breaks the mould, but I can't see how Button's performance last year, good as it was, counts as a "breakthrough".
