Its also made me think about another situation. Suppose next year's Spa is a real engine killer and only 8 cars finish, with the cars that grabbed 9 and 10 both retiring a couple of laps from the end. Cars in the points are supposed to go straight to parc ferme for post race scrutineering and the mechanics are not allowed to touch them until the stewards have cleared them. But if you retired and went back to your pit, the mechanics might have already started taking the car apart and putting it into crates. I don't think that has happened yet, but if it did...?
