Does anyone on here understand how much more difficult it is to do what Pirelli are doing with F1 tyres than what Bridgestone were doing with its tyres before they dropped out?

Pirelli could easily make an F1 tyre that could last two or even three race distances. It's easy to do because they have no competition and therefore lap times don't matter if all that you want is a tyre that lasts forever.

Bridgestone wanted to make a tyre that lasted forever when Michelin dropped out, but they were asked to provide tyres that produced differences in lap time. The result was the two tyre rule, because Bridgestone made all of its tyres capable of lasting a race distance.

As for 'Marbles'. Has there never been 'marbles' in F1 before?
