The teams are hardly throwing money at problems this year, these tyres have made it very difficult to settle on a development direction for the car as the tyre behaviour is not fully understood. As for the racing, it is a JOKE. We have mediocre car and driver combinations getting on the podium and even winning races, it has more to do with conserving tyres than going all out as fast as you can to win. When Kimi Raikkonen debuted in the Sauber all those years ago, Ron Dennis snapped him up like a shot, no one is snapping up Perez or Maldonado, Senna or Kobiyashi because they are not nearly good enough at the moment to partner Alonso or Hamilton or Vettel, in fact Ferrari have funded Perez as a junior but he is only looking good because of the tyres and fluke weather, lets be honest Massa is just as bad as ever but the tyres are giving him a bit of a reprieve but also Perez is not rated good enough to replace him or they would do it in an instant.. As for cost cutting if you can't afford
