Lewis Hamilton admitted that he'd been 'cruising' out in front of the Singapore Grand Prix in the moments before his gearbox failed, which he described as a 'heartbreaking' moment.

jose. saffa explained what lulu was doing. i stated that gearboxes were very robust now, but such things as skipping gears, putting increased torsional loads due to such actions, kerb bumping etc, all contribute to stressing a gearbox. if they didnt, we could have gearboxes that last a full season. also,gears do take wear, and the more use a gearbox has, the more likliehood of problems.
but i doubt that macca will ever reveal the true cause of the problem.
