Ferrari stirred controversy with their decision to intentionally incur a grid penalty in order to benefit Fernando Alonso. But it worked, and Alonso said he was proud of how they'd handled it.

The move was strategic and legal by current definiion. Since clipping the seal set Massa back 5 spots, there was no gain for the team, but it did serve the need of Alonso to be on the clean side and allowed him to step in front of Massa after qualifying poorly. I really dislike seeing Massa tossed under the Alonso bus. He was quicker all weekend, so Alonso finishing third was a manipulated result. If this leads to him winning the WDC by just a couple of points, it will just go down as another tainted championship on the Alonso CV.
