Mercedes are putting together all the elements for success in 2014. They already have developed a more powerful KERS system which is capable of keeping the car on the move for longer, thus cutting fuel consumption - crucial to the new regulations in 2014. Plus other technical developments, backed by Daimler Benz. Also Ross Brawn hasn't turned out too many "Turkeys" in his illustrious career.
I would put money on their long term success!!
