Perez isn't only considered good because of his three podium finishes. He was already looking promising in 2011, even if his finishing results didn't look too flash. In 2012, aside from his three podiums, he was also showing great pace at places like Catalunya, Spa, Suzuka, Monaco, etc., but other factors (like being taken out by other drivers, or some mistakes) meant he couldn't capitalise on them. Yeah he can also be a bit rough around the edges at times, but he very clearly has potential. Anyone who doesn't see his talent either has been spending too much time on the internet and not enough watching F1, or is too heavily biased in their opinions to see what's really in front of them.
