Kev & Mr Cinical:
What DC didn't say but is implicit in his comment, is that while there is inconvenience for a week - actually it's propably longer if you include set up and tear down - The area around Melbourne and Albert Park gets an influx of fans, and F1 mechanics, contractors, etc. who all need to eat, drink and sleep. Basically spending loads of money that must represent a big cash injection for the local economy and local businesses. Not to mention all the, albeit short-term, employment opportunities for local people.
And that's without going into the wider tourism aspects that ripple out from Albert Park around the world. It must be the biggest, 'come and visit us and spend lots of money' advert there is.
Mr E, if F1 stops at Albert Park, please can you bring it to London?
