Giedo van der Garde was having an impressive Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday, handily winning the battle of the 'back row teams' - right up until the wheels came off his campaign.

Definitely a positive weekend for Giedo, outqualifying his teammate under normal circumstances for the 1st time (Melbourne was a lottery) and showing well in the race until that unfortunate incident. Until that point he was keeping Bottas, his teammate and the Marussias in check.

I think he has done reasonably well so far this year considering the team is so far giving Pic some favourable treatment with the updated car in Bahrain and again this weekend with a new frontwing. Now it's a matter of showing he can beat Pic more than once.

Poor decision btw to make him finish the lap, who knows what kind of damage that did to the floor.
