Stefano Domenicali has confirmed that Ferrari was ready to pair Robert Kubica with Fernando Alonso before the Pole suffered his career-changing accident on the Ronde di Andora rally.

Jamal, the BMW F1.08 was far superior to the Renault R28. Only by the end of the season the Renault did got ahead of the BMW. But for 70% of the season the BMW was clearly superior. Even Heidfeld come close to beat Alonso in the standings in 2008. And we are speaking about a driver which hasn't won a race in 10-11 seasons and a double world champion with 32 race victories under his belt. The only time Alonso and Kubica had similar cars were the dogs build by Renault and BMW Sauber in 2009. Both cars were horrible and relinquished KERS after a few races. Both drivers managed to get one podium finish each but Alonso outscored Kubica 26 to 17. Kubica came off age only in 2010. He was able to driver brilliantly whatever car Renault did offer to him.
