Why drop the 12 points following a suspension? That makes no sense at all. Say Maldonado has been up to his old hi-jinks of ramming all and sundry off the track at every race. He gets, for example, two points for each transgression at the first six races, is banned for the seventh race, then at the eighth through twelfth races he gets no penalty? That's ridiculous.

Surely he should get the ban, keep the points and suffer a harsher penalty if he continues with the poor behaviour, not get off scott free on the next five occasions.
