For the first time in Formula 1, the FIA has published the post-qualifying weights of all 20 cars competing in the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this weekend, making it possible to roughly discern just how much fuel each driver will have on-board for the start of the race at Albert Park - and the results make for interesting reading indeed.

By far the lightest car in the field is the Williams of Kazuki Nakajima, who it now appears has scuppered his chances of points significantly with his mistake on his final flying lap in Q3 that consigned him to just eleventh spot on the grid (following the two Toyotas' disqualification).

Amongst the top ten, the lightest machines are - perhaps surprisingly - the two KERS-equipped Ferraris and the BMW-Sauber of Robert Kubica, with third-placed Sebastian Vettel, fifth-placed Nico Rosberg, eighth-placed Mark Webber and in particular the two front row-sitting Brawn GP entries of Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello all seemingly carrying very healthy fuel loads.

Other drivers looking strong include BMW-Sauber star Nick Heidfeld and Renault's former F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso - both of whom were promoted into the top ten as a result of Toyota's ill-fortune - whilst the intra-team comparisons are also fascinating.

Whilst the greatest differences are at Williams (Rosberg 45kg heavier than Nakajima) and BMW (Heidfeld 41kg heavier than Kubica, albeit with only the former carrying KERS), there is also a significant discrepancy at McLaren-Mercedes, with struggling reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton some 35kg lighter than oft-underrated team-mate Heikki Kovalainen...
