Despite the current economic climate, the Renault team is poised to kick-start its successful Roadshow programme for 2009. with a visit to Dubai scheduled for the end of the week

The team's F1 cars will be demonstrated at various locations across the city throughout the four-day event, which runs from 9-12 April, as Renault adds another new location - and audience - to its list. In the past year, the team has performed in Rotterdam, Lisbon, New Delhi and, most recently, Sao Paulo, and has confirmed that Nelson Piquet Jr will join reserve driver Romain Grosjean and new 'demonstration driver' Adam Khan for the coming weekend's activities.

Plans for the Dubai Roadshow include a blast through the desert with last year's R28 F1 car, followed by a series of drag races against some of the world's most powerful supercars. The Downtown Barj Dubai will form the centrepiece for the main spectator events, with the main F1 demonstrations taking place on a giant floating platform built on a lagoon in front of the world's tallest skyscraper.

"Dubai is one of the great cities of the world - and the ideal place to stage a Roadshow," Piquet, who will complete four demonstrations on the Dubai Mall lagoon platform, said, "The chance to visit Dubai and show the people the excitement of F1 is something I'm really looking forward to."

While Dubai's plans to open the world's first F1 theme park have been on temporary hold due to the 'credit crunch', Grosjean and Khan are looking forward to taking the sport to the people.

"I'm very excited about the activities we have planned for our four days in Dubai," the Team Pakistan A1GP pilot admitted, "It's a new market for F1 and it will be great for the fans to experience the sight and sound of an F1 car up close."
