Renault on ice in Dubai.

After a dramatic start, Renault F1's first Roadshow of the 2009 season provided thrills of an altogether different nature as Nelson Piquet Jr, Romain Grosjean and Adam Khan entertained the people of Dubai at a variety of venues.

Once the remains of the R28 shunted by rally champion Mohammed Ben Sulayem had been cleared away from Dubai Autodrome [watch it HERE, the event continued both on the streets and in the desert, although the main venue for the spectator events was Downtown Barj Dubai in front of the world's tallest building, with the demonstrations staged on a giant floating platform built on the Dubai Mall lagoon.

The climax of the Roadshow came on Sunday, however, when Piquet took the wheel of the R28 at the Ski Dubai indoor ski slope. Fitted with specially-adapted studded Bridgestone snow tyres - with Bridgestone engineers having taken 16 hours to manually insert all 2016 studs - the Brazilian completed a series of donuts in the snow at the foot of the slope, producing a display like no other.

“Coming to Dubai has been a great experience and a real success for Renault," Piquet, who has yet to score an F1 point in 2009, stated, "We packed a lot into this event and did some unusual things that I hope the fans enjoyed. Driving on the snow in an F1 car is something I never thought I would have the chance to do and it was a lot of fun.”

Grosjean's highlight - driving through the desert - was altogether warmer, but admitted that he was impressed with the way that 'everyone here has really embraced the Roadshow'.
