POLL RESULT: Richards, Lola, DAMS and USF1 most likely entries

Following our poll to determine who you believe are the most viable of the mooted newcomers bidding to grab a spot on the Formula 1 starting grid in the top flight's 'low-cost', budget-capped era in 2010, the votes have been counted – and four hopefuls are clearly at the top of the order.

There are currently three available slots for new teams next season under the FIA's controversial £40 million cost cap initiative – more should any of the present incumbents, most notably Ferrari, Toyota, Renault, BMW and Red Bull, pursue their threats to walk away at the end of the 2009 campaign as a result of the enduring stalemate with FIA President Max Mosley over the regulations.

There are, however, rather more outfits than that expected to submit an application for entry before the 29 May deadline, with Campos Meta 1 and Team USF1 having already done so, and the number of other potential candidates running into double figures.

Below are the poll results of whose bids you contend are likely to most well-received by the governing body:

Prodrive/Aston Martin 24.8%
Lola 21.2%
DAMS 17.0%
Team USF1 14.6%
Penske 6.9%
Epsilon Euskadi 4.1%
Super Aguri 3.5%
iSport International b>2.4%
Andretti Green Racing 2.3%
A1 Team Ireland 1.9%
Litespeed GP 1.3%

i thought that i saw a story the other day, to the effect that richards said he wouldnt enter f1 at present! this would be his third "pull-out" in a year. but i feel that the most likely pair to enter would be lola and usf1 although i have grave doubts about the bona fide of usf1, even though they say they have signed with cosworth! at least lola have the capability build a car.
