Ferrari star Kimi Raikkonen is set to get behind the wheel of a rally car again when he participates in the Rally della Marca in Italy this weekend in a FIAT Grande Punto S2000.

The 2007 Formula 1 World Champion last drove the car on the snow and ice stages of the Arctic Lapland Rally four months ago in January, finishing 13th alongside co-driver Kaj Lindstr?m, who will join him once more on the Rally della Marca. The dry tarmac road stages around Treviso in the Veneto region will pose an altogether different challenge for the 17-time grand prix-winner, however - and it is one he is clearly relishing.

"I want to thank the Scuderia for giving me the possibility to take part in such a competition," Raikkonen underlined. "I'll really enjoy myself, and it will be my first experience on tarmac after some tests on snow last winter.

"As I'm coming from the race track, it will be interesting to see what I will be able to do behind the wheel on the roads."

The 29-year-old Finn has on several occasions hinted at a possible rallying future post-F1. He registered his maiden rostrum finish of the 2009 campaign last weekend in the Monaco Grand Prix, taking the chequered flag a competitive third around the narrow, tortuous streets of the glamorous Principality - an event in which he triumphed with McLaren-Mercedes back in 2005.
