Vettel wins British GP

Sebastian Vettel waltzed to his second grand prix win of the 2009 Formula One season, as Red Bull proved virtually untouchable around the fast sweeps of Silverstone.

The German led from lights to flag to deny the home crowd any hint of a 'local' victory although, as it turned out, neither Jenson Button or Lewis Hamilton were even close to obliging. Instead, while Vettel sprinted away at nearly a second a lap in the opening stages, Rubens Barrichello and Mark Webber gave vain chase.

Their order changed at the first round of pit-stops, giving RBR the 1-2 early weekend performances hinted at, while Barrichello found himself battling Nico Rosberg and Felipe Massa for the final podium position. The Brazilian's second stop effectively sealed his place alongside the RBR duo on the podium, while Massa slotted just as easily into fourth after starting eleventh.

Button, meanwhile, overcame a bad start from sixth on the grid, climbing from ninth in the early going back to his original position, and was hunting down Rosberg as the flag loomed. Behind the Briton, Jarno Trulli and Kimi Raikkonen completed the scorers at the end of a race that saw just two retirements.
