Donington remains silent over circuit work

Donington Park bosses have refused to comment on how work at the circuit is progressing as deadlines draw closer for improvements to be completed in time for the 2010 British Grand Prix.

Reports have suggested that Silverstone could be asked to host the event again next season because Donington won't be ready in time, with a number of delays having already hit the work being undertaken at the East Midlands venue.

The proposed announcement of how the venture is being funded has also been delayed, with the circuit having previously planned to announce the news back in March, with a spokesperson revealing that further news will now be release next month.

"There has been no response to the internet reports [stating the race would go to Silverstone] as they have no substance or factual basis. Donington Park still holds the contract for F1 for 17 years from 2010,” she told the Derby Telegraph.

"Due to the change in the project management and on-going work behind the scenes on finalising the funding, we are not currently in a position to provide a full round-up of the construction and plans.

"We understand that people are still interested. We expect to be able to discuss finances, construction etc more in September."

Donington recently announced that Jayne McGivern's Red Grouse Properties group has been hired to oversee the revamp.

Why do we have to wait for Gillett to go bust before the 2010 calender is forged. Please, for christ's sakes somebody put a stop to this and give the program planners something concrete to build on. The place just isn't suitable !!.
