As was the case last season, McLaren Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is to attend the British round of the DTM season at Brands Hatch next month.

The reigning F1 champion, who previously raced in the DTM-supporting F3 Euroseries earlier in his career, will visit the Kent circuit on Sunday 6 September to take in race day.

Hamilton will conduct a live interview in the paddock and will also carry out a meet and greet session with two spectators drawn at random from those to have purchased advance tickets for the event.

"It's great to be going back to the DTM at Brands Hatch again this year," Hamilton said. "It is always fantastic to have the opportunity to spend time with British motorsport fans and thank them for their support. I raced in the support series for DTM, F3 Euro Series, for two seasons so had the opportunity to watch most of the races at that time and DTM always sees lots of drama, overtaking and I would definitely recommend it as a good family day out. Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of circuit owners MotorSport Vision, added that he was pleased to see Hamilton return for a second successive season.

"We're delighted that once again Lewis Hamilton is able to join us at Brands Hatch for the DTM event. Lewis thrilled the crowds with his appearance last year, and it is fantastic that British fans will have the opportunity to see him again this year as F1 World Champion."
