Lewis Hamilton headed a McLaren-Mercedes one-two in qualifying for Sunday's European Grand Prix at Valencia.

Hamilton topped the times with a 1 minute 39.498 second lap - 0.034 seconds up on his team-mate, Heikki Kovalainen.

Rubens Barrichello was third for Brawn GP followed by Red Bull Racing's Sebastian Vettel and championship leader, Jenson Button.

Kimi Raikkonen took sixth for Ferrari, albeit more than six tenths off the pace, with Nico Rosberg seventh for Williams and local star, Fernando Alonso eighth in his Renault.

Mark Webber and Robert Kubica rounded out the top ten.
