Button: This isn't it for Brawn GP

Jenson Button wraps up the 2009 F1 title in Brazil and then vows 'This isn't it for Brawn GP'
Jenson Button had vowed that Brawn GP will be more than just 'one-hit wonders' after the Brackley-based squad capped a fairytale season by securing both F1 titles in Brazil.

Despite a poor performance in qualifying, Button wrapped up the drivers' title with a fine drive through the field to fifth place while the team – as expected – picked up the points needed to put it out of reach of closest rivals Red Bull.

It marked the end of a dramatic turnaround for the team, which was left in disarray when Honda announced it was to quit the sport before team boss Ross Brawn stepped in to save the Brackley-based outfit.

However, while many of the plaudits were for Button after securing his title, the new champion admitted that the success was largely down to one man.

“This team would not exist if Ross was not here," he said. "The car has his name on the side of the car, and that is a lot pressure on a person. So for him to win today both the constructors' and the drivers' championship is exceptional. The guy deserves a medal. He has won many World Championships and he has also seen tough seasons.

"He has been in every situation, he knows that normally winning the World Championship is not easy and you have many dark days. He has been helpful. I don't think anyone could have done it without him.”

The focus for both Brawn and Button now will be to secure a deal which will see the Briton remain for the defence of his title and the champion insisted that there was still more to come from the team.

"I want to be here next year and I want to be with a team that can challenge for victories like this season," he said. "Brawn can do that. These guys are not one-hit wonders. We've some sensationally talented people in our team.

"We might not be big like other teams, but that will be a benefit to us next season as the teams have to get smaller and we have the right amount of people for next year. We are in a great position, we have worked on this year's car as much as possible, but we have also worked on next year's car. This isn't it for Brawn GP.

"But I haven't talked to the team seriously about anything for next year. We wanted to get this out of the way. I will sit down and discuss it when I've got over my hangover!"

Hahahaha MAc

not Kubica? or Alonso? or Heidfeld? by default he had a decent car that season as demonstrated by his maiden win in Hungary that year. Take nothing away this year as the BRAWN/button/MERCEDES combo was unbeatable.

More to do with the BRAWN-Mercedes methinks
