The FIA has confirmed that the date of the Monaco Grand Prix will change for the 2010 season.

The move was widely expected to occur to allow more time between the race in the Principality and the following event of the season in Turkey.

Following the latest meeting of the World Motor Sport Council, the FIA has now confirmed that the Monaco event will move forwards a week to 16 May.

The FIA has also approved in principal a swap which would see the races in Abu Dhabi and Brazil swap dates, with Abu Dhabi once again becoming the season finale. Such a move is dependent on the agreement of promoters of the two events.

The FIA is expecting to receive confirmation in the near future about the events in Canada and Great Britain.
