USF1 confirms it will use the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain as its European base when it debuts in F1 in 2010
The new USF1 team has revealed that the Motorland Aragon circuit in Nothern Spain will be its European base when it joins the F1 grid in 2010.
The team will be one of four newcomers on the grid next season when the F1 field expands beyond its current ten teams, and was known to be searching for a second base in Europe to run alongside its main headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In a statement ahead of the final round of the 2009 season in Abu Dhabi this weekend, the team confirmed that it had chosen the Aragon circuit as its European base, with the venue set to serve as the base for its European testing, race car development and logistics headquarters.
"MotorLand Aragon is the ideal motorsports complex for US F1's European operation," sporting director Peter Windsor said. "From the excellent location and weather, to the rich racing heritage and diverse track configurations, MotorLand provides America's first Formula One team in more than 40 years with the perfect facility to manage the 2010 season and train for 2011 and beyond."
