Stefano Domenicali says Brawn and Red Bull will be right in the thick of it again next season.
Brawn Grand Prix and
Red Bull Racing will remain at the sharp end in F1 next year, that's the belief of
Ferrari team boss, Stefano Domenicali.
The Scuderia was unable to match Brawn and
Red Bull in 2009 and in the end the Maranello-based outfit finished the season fourth in the Constructors' championship, knocked down a spot by
McLaren-Mercedes late on.
In total
Ferrari scored only 70 points - and took just one win, when
Kimi Raikkonen was victorious at the Belgian Grand Prix. In contrast Brawn and
Red Bull scored more than double that, the former notching up 172 points.
However while '09 was difficult, Domenicali is upbeat about 2010, when
Felipe Massa and
Fernando Alonso will spearhead the Scuderia's assault at the pinnacle of the sport.
"In 2005 we suffered like hell - just like this year, we had the lone win at
Indianapolis and that season was very difficult," Domenicali told
ITV-F1.com.
"But we have these periods and we are used to getting out of them with the
Ferrari spirit and the
Ferrari resources."
Despite his confidence though, he still expects Brawn and
Red Bull to be fighting for victories again and he dismissed talk that 'normal service' will be resumed in 2010.
"I respect them [Brawn and
Red Bull] a lot," Domenicali continued. "Brawn had such a huge advantage at the beginning that for sure - without saying - they will have swapped development to their new car a long time ago. I know Ross [Brawn] very well and for sure he is doing that.
"With regard to
Red Bull, I think they did a great package - a really great package - and for sure they will be there next year too."
So do you think Brawn and
Red Bull will be battling at the top again next season?
